Irresistible to the black & gold charm of Swatch 2009, Christmas series

Author: Jane Ye

There is still a long way to go before Christmas Day arrives, but Swatch has taken the priority to launch its Christmas series, showing us the ultimate beauty of the combination of black and gold. Especially the " Star Edition" and "Infinite Elegance", they ultimately deduced the charm and unique beauty of holy Christmas. See more series below.

I mostly like the star edition wrist watch which is the best product to celebrate Christmas Day. Set in whole black, the skeleton watch dial in stars structure and the golden and shining stars pattern on the strap describe the wonderful night of Christmas Eve. The golden light under the decoration of white crystal are dazzling to sting one's eyes. On the holy and peaceful night, you are prone to get drunk by its beauty. Elegant, mysterious with unique charm, the star edition is specially packaged. Plus the limited edition, I think it tend to be the best present for Christmas.

1) Golden flowers
The golden bloomy flowers extend from the watch dial to the strap perfectly deduced an extraordinarily classic taste. This kind of lady watch with dignified air forms a strong vision effect of the golden and black by exquisitely design. The fluent flower curves give the wearer a misconception that they are wandering through the dream garden with golden flowers.

2) Gold-Lux
This watch delivers a beauty of architecture with the regular curves and abstract pattern. Set in fashionable square watch case, it deduces a feel of generous art. Simplicity features the dial in magic black. I especially like the design of its strap decorated by the golden architectural pattern. These two combinations make us sigh for its amazing design. At the position of twelve o'clock, the single dazzling crystal marking on the black dial looks like the shining star in the night sky. Golden hands in simple design precisely show the time.

3) Perles D' Encre
This bracelet wrist watch can be worn as a timer as well as a bracelet. The black big pearls deliver the mysterious charm of night. Golden chains plus half-transparent pearls make up the unique watch strap, absolutely sexy and elegant to you. Eight dazzling symmetry white crystal are enchased on the black dial which add more luxurious charm to the whole.

4) Dark Sun
The elegant Irony Chrono Retrograde attracts the customers by the black crocodile embossed leather strap with folded buckle. Shiny black golden case and brass bezel are consistent with the buckle. We can see that the usage of color and material are of great taste and quality. It sets off the dignified air by dial details.

5) Shimmer Bliss
It's classic representative of orient taste. Full painted golden flower pattern on the patent leather strap, this skin style ultimately interprets elegance. Gold symbolizes wealth and luck. Personally, it's the best present for family, friends or even for yourself.

6) Lordly Essence
Cool and black pentagram, dazzling white crystal and elegant white round pearls features the Swatch jewelry for the approaching Christmas. With such jewelry to package yourself, you easily become the focus in the public. Every move you take is a personal charm.

How to Become a Famous Artist

Author: I.ivabov

How to become a famous artist.

1. It does not matter what kind of painting or graphic techniques you use.

2. By painting oil is the easiest to use.

3. Talent is undoubtedly the biggest, but not the main factor.

4. Hard work is one of the main factors.

5. Ambition is almost the main factor.

6. A good and up to date concept is decisive factor in creating your artwork.

7. Bad critic is in most cases a positive critic.

8. Try to be as much eccentric as you can.

9. Don’t mind critic and unpleasant statements from eccentric “art” activists.

10. Attend an Art College, Art School, or take some private lessons. Even if you don’t like realistic stiles, it is very important to study the human anatomy. Picasso creates “childish human forms”, but he possesses perfect knowledge of the human anatomy and that makes

him Picasso.

11. Who you know, is a very important factor of success. Of course most of the really good painters and artists are not the most social people in the world, but please try to make contacts, be social, in most cases the help and the best solutions came from friends of friends.

12. Something which should motivate you is the phrase: “The best artists are made, not born.”

13. Invest as much time as you can in your art initiative. Take your time, concentrate on your work. Very few famous artists were hobby painters. If you practise it as a hobby, you can forget it! If you feel it strong enough, you will probably sacrifice everything in the name of art. Once again ambition is almost the main factor but hard work is one of the main factors.

14. Travel as much as you can and can afford.

15. Visit as many museums as you can.

16. Take notes when you visit a museum. If you like an artwork, just write down the name of the author and study his biography and works. Try to get as much as you can from brochures and books.

17. Read as much books as you can, most of the famous artists are well educated and well-read people. Nevertheless classic literature will influence your ideology.

18. Take your time to explore the internet, find suitable galleries for your artworks and apply to the best art galleries online, or by the traditional way.

19. Visit public events and try to make contacts.

20. Create accounts in online sources. Very important! Nowadays internet plays a very important role.

21. Please don’t cut your ear!

22. If you don’t live in a big City, try to move to one. Most of the galleries and considerable

art dealers and galleries are situated in big cities.

When you create, never forget, that less is more. Try to be as minimalist (especially nowadays) as possible.

23. Be unique.

24. Be your self. When you create, try to be yourself, try to be unique, create something special.

25. Expose your art, don’t be ashamed, if you feel it, show it, if you are sure, you are going to make it. Believe in your self.

26. And once again Ambition is almost the main factor.

27. And the last thing; I am an art collector and you can contact me and present me your artworks. Please write to me at artimpresia@abv.bg or check on http://artimpresia.com

Details of the Folk Art ...

Folk Art Auctions

Author: Treasure Hunter

Folk art auctions feature a wide range of objects that reflect the artist’s craft traditions, and traditional social values.  Folk art is generally produced by people who have little or no academic artistic training.  Folk artists usually use established techniques and styles of a particular region or culture.

Folk art auctions include paintings, sculptures and other decorative art forms.  Some artists also consider utilitarian objects such as tools and costumes as folk art.  For the most part, the category of folk art auctions exclude works by professional artists.

It has been my experience that folk art auctions have something for just about anyone.  I found a folk art painting of a cat in a peach tree that was done by the artist Tascha.  The artist also noted on the folk art auction that they create unique ceramic tile art.

My mother purchased a blanket chest for me years ago that I listed recently in a folk art auction.  The chest was made about two hundred hears ago and is very beautiful.  The original painted decorations are still intact.

I found an interesting folk art auction for a carnival knock-down dummy in the shape of a large cat.  It was made around 1930 and is twice the size of similar items.  I researched the item on a non-auction site and found that it is worth a lot of money.

My heart is still swayed by Americana folk art auctions.  I recently fell in love with a painting I found up for auction of Elvis on a Harley in front of a large American flag.  It was spectacular!  The stretched canvas was painted with acrylics.

I especially like the Halloween themed folk art auction I found that was offered by Sister Raya New Orleans Folk Art.  The title of the painting was Little Spooky the Cat – Awaiting the Great Pumpkin.  The painting was painted in classic vintage style and used gold maple, red sapphire, blue pearl, white, pumpkin orange, sable brown, amber rust and jet black.  I would love to have this hanging on my wall all through the autumn months.

Another folk art auction that I found and was sad to bid up past my budget was a handmade set of miniature dominos.  The set was in a folk art decorated maple case.  The set dates from the mid to late 1800’s.  It was really exquisite and I’m sorry that I missed out on it.

I really liked another folk art auction that I found for a modern fraktur.  A fraktur is a specific kind of Pennsylvania German folk art.  The fraktur I found was a watercolor of a marriage record.  It was very colorful and looked like it held very special significance to its original owners.

I found a wood box from Maine in a folk art auction that really appealed to me.  It was rather small, but was painted chrome yellow and was trimmed in forest green.  The paint was crazed and worn and it was made in the late nineteenth century.  There were no visible nails and the hardware was reported as looking original.

The folk art auction that I missed out on that was way out of my price range was for an Andrew Clemens sand bottle.  The sand bottle was date 1887 and was covered in patriotic decorations.  It was an apothecary style bottle with a stopper and it contained at least ten different colors of sand.  The bottle ended up selling for eighty five hundred dollars.  I’m sure that it has ended up in an excellent collection of folk art.

I found an amusing folk art auction for three wooden carvings.  The name of the piece was Three Articulating Folk Art Whimseys and were all made by the same artist. The carvings were accented with sheet metal neckties.  The first carving in the folk art auction was of a cobbler, a blacksmith and a gentleman with a donkey.  The second carving was a diminutive soldier and the third was a cobbler smoking a pipe.  I think that this piece of Americana was purchased at a low price of three thousand dollars and was worth much more.

African Tribal Art- All About Beauty and Simplicity

Author: Kathryn Dawson

Art plays an important role in the lives of the various tribal communities of Africa. Starting from birth to death, every occasion of human life is represented in some form of art. This universalism of African tribal art makes it popular even in the midst of an art world dominated by renowned contemporary artists in a highly modernised and urban society.

Tribal art is manifested in various forms such as original paintings, jewellery, masks or pottery items. The uniqueness of African tribal art lies in the fact that it has a unique significance and is not intended simply as an item of beautification.

African masks, statues and original paintings have an inherent meaning and every possible step is taken by contemporary artists of African tribal art to keep that essence alive for future generations. The beauty and simplicity of this ethnic art form compels many people to build their own private collections of art pieces.

However, you need both time and money if you are passionate about collecting these pieces. Collecting rare African art crafts can be fulfilling and challenging. Here are some valuable tips for African tribal art collectors:

Analyze the piece

If you are buying an item of art from a museum, you can check the finer details of it then and there. If you are buying from any online art gallery, make sure you are dealing with a reputed gallery with genuine credentials. During delivery check the piece properly. That would also help you to find out whether it has been well cared for or not.

Ethnical provenance

It is important to know the ethnical provenance of the art piece as there is a lot of difference between the art forms of various regions. Moreover, depending upon the region, the art of different tribes come in different price ranges.

Lineage

Tribal art is as old as the civilisation. The older the art piece, the higher is its value in the market. For instance, to purchase an African tribal art piece that dates back to the thirties, you would need to do a lot of research and pay a much higher price.

Maintenance

To keep the glory of any tribal art piece intact for a long duration, it needs proper maintenance. Always remember that extensive restoration at times leads to the decrease in the value of a particular piece.

The ‘Rare’ factor

All tribal art collectors have a desire to possess some rare art pieces in their collections. For finding an authentic, collectable-quality rare piece of art, you need to have an eye for quality and scarcity. Finding a rare piece is not that easy but if you search properly, you can come across some such pieces.

Dimension

Tribal art pieces come in a wide range of sizes and shapes. If you are a true lover of art, size must not matter to you much. What actually should matter is the rarity of the art piece and its quality aspect.

Auction prices

At auctions, buyers many a time bid on emotions which sometimes leads to a much higher price for a particular piece. In reality, the particular piece may not actually be of such high value. Higher prices do not necessarily guarantee superior quality. In that respect, buying from an art gallery, either online or offline saves you from the rigours of bidding and the price tag is also realistic.

African tribal art pieces are definitely a collector’s item. If you want to add some pieces to your collection, browse around reputed galleries and keep in mind these above mentioned tips.

Home Painting Trends, Art & Interior Design Styles

Author: Sofia Rucci

Current Paint Color Trends

Interior: The most common paint color is white; white is a good choice for many, as it goes well with anybody’s style. It has a tendency to make a room look larger than it is, so white is especially good for smaller rooms. The second most popular color would have to be light brown, like a light latte color. This is best for larger rooms, as it doesn’t make it look bigger like white does; it also brings a nice warm feel to the space. The last color, is one which has become very popular but is normally used as an accent wall, if you haven’t guessed it already, the color is red. You will sometimes find red in kitchens and bathrooms too, only they usually have more of a Cranberry tinge to them.

Exterior: The most popular color when it comes to painting the exterior of your home is white or off-white, often these homes have a dark trim and sometimes shutters. After white it’s really a toss up, it seems that depending on the area you live in the second most popular would either be, browns/tans or blue/grey. Following these colors are yellows and greens, with red and pink falling behind. Mainly due to the fact that people in general like their homes to blend in with the rest of the neighborhood, and the brighter the color, the harder it is to match with the permanent fixtures on your home.

Paint Colors That Are Always Stylish

An easy way to remember the colors that never lose their appeal is to think of nature, nature never goes out of style. That being said colors such as white, beige, brown, tan, and grey used in moderation. Paint with these colors and you can’t go wrong.

Home Styles

Classic Style Description – A classic styled home usually works best in a heritage home only for the reason that to get a true classic look you need rooms rather than open spaces where the rooms flow into one another. Classic looks are composed by much planned out decorating, décor is very symmetrical. The objects you have in a room aren’t nearly as important as the way they’re arranged.

Contemporary Style Description – A contemporary look is one which is very clean, with smooth lines. It’s the most simple of styles, brought together by the use of glass, steel, and stone. Also the colors you use need to be solid, normally in beige, creams, whites, and blacks, homes with a contemporary style have minimal use of detail such as carvings and even the light you use should be lighting that focuses not on the fixture but just of the light it gives out.

Country Style Description – To achieve a country style look in your home, just utilize the use of woods, some furnishings will have the use of chicken wire instead of glass, on cabinet doors. A popular fabric choice is plaid, of all the styles this one would be the most likely to look a little cluttered but if you decorate accordingly you can achieve a beautiful country tone, but with a clean up-to-date appearance.

Eclectic Style Description – Anyone can easily create an eclectic looking home, mostly due to the fact that pretty much anything goes with this style. The purpose is to mix and match different types of furnishings, woods, colors, and textiles. This is a good choice for large families or ones with different ideas of style since you can actually mix earth tones with color and antiques with new pieces.

Modern Style Description – Geometrical shapes and colors such as dark brown, black, and chrome are use to create a modern look, often with hints of deep colors throughout a room. One of the main goals when creating this style is to have the furniture to appear to be floating. For example platform beds, glass bowl sinks, and big wall size windows all help creating a modern style home.

Art Styles

Abstract Art – Abstract art is very colorful and bright, the most distinctive thing about it; however, is the fact that it doesn’t represent any visual object; rather it normally is an expression of emotion or sound.

Classic Art – This type of art is one that has become very famous with artists such as Van Gogh and Edvard Munch, these artists don’t represent classic art just because their work is so old, but also the fact that artists such as these had a way of expressing their thoughts, visions, and dreams in their paintings, this is what makes up classic art.

Naturalistic Art – This would be one of the easiest to describe and to remember, it’s exactly what it says it is, nature. These are the most realistic paintings, sometimes they are so perfectly painted that they almost would appear to be a photo. You could pretty much describe this style as scenery and landscape pictures.

Representational Art – This style is very much as it says it is. When you see representational art it will very much represent something or somewhere, a picture of the statue of liberty for example, most people would instantly know what this is and where to find it, unlike a picture of a house or a mountain, you wouldn’t know exactly which house or mountain it is. So representation art is an exact replica of an object, person, or place.

The Joys Of Spring Break And Summertime Children's Art

The Joys of Spring Break and Summer

Arts & Crafts….

by Rhonda Moret

www.momliving.com

We all know how we can spend hour up summer hour watching our kids engage in their development of junior masterpieces. From finger painting, to drawing, to basic everyday coloring, your child can quickly amass beautiful pieces of art. The question quickly becomes, however, what do we do with all of the artistic treasures our little junior Picasso have developed. I know I have personally been guilty of sneaking a piece or two of artwork in between the different sections of the morning newspaper which was headed for the recycle bin. Mind you…I did feel a panged of guilt when I confiscated these out of my home but I just didn't have even one more square inch of ‘display' area on my refrigerator (I had even begun posting artwork on our surplus frig in the garage!!). But then I found the answers (with the help of my husband…) and here are a few tips I believe moms everywhere will appreciate:

Convert Your Garage into an Art Gallery

At my husband's suggestion, we started "displaying" our kids' artwork in the garage. Not only is it a great way to add some "color and interest" into a typically otherwise drab environment, it is also a great way to keep your child's talents—front and center. My kids' creations are the last thing I see when I am headed off to the office in the morning and the first things I see when I get home in the evening. My kids benefit in that they feel proud that their work is displayed for the whole world see (or just our whole family!).

Frame Your Favorites

I recently started framing my children's really "good" paintings and drawings. I have dedicated a hallway in my home which is lined with my children's artwork. I have bypassed the really pricey frames; with the special non-glare glass, beveled mattes, and specialty frames and found that I could achieve the same look (almost!) by stocking up when stores like Michael's, Joann Fabrics, and Target, are having a sale on frames and mats. I have even picked up frames at the dollar store for – you guessed it – just a buck! In this case as well, I love to see my kid's artwork framed and displayed and they love having their work "showcased".

Portfolios of Love

I have also recently started a "portfolio" of my kids' artwork. I simply scan our favorites (either at home or at our local Kinko's), name and date each "piece", and then once we reach a good number of pages of art, we bind it all together! If it is for a special gift, for grandma, dad, or other loved ones, we incorporate raffia and/or ribbon as the binding to give the "portfolio" at more "festive" look. These portfolios are also a great way for us mom to organize and assemble our children's treasures for our own personal enjoyment as mom's once our children are grown and when long summer day's with our children are distant memories.

Here's to Happy Mom Living;

Sell Art Online - Is It For You?

Author: Peggy Edwards

Years ago there was only one way to sell your artwork and that was to pound the pavement. You had to walk from gallery to gallery with your portfolio begging to see the gallery owner and hoping that the owner would like your work enough to display it in his gallery. While many artists still choose to take this approach, more and more artists are embracing the notion of being able to sell art online.

In today's world, websites are dedicated to the act of displaying an artist's work and allowing that artist to set the rate he/she wants to receive for their work. Some artists build their own websites, eliminating the need to pay costly display fees and commissions to galleries and art selling sites. Do the gallery owners like this? Probably not, but when you don't have an expensive budget, why break it when you don't have to?

More and more often, the control of an artist's work is kept solely in the hands of the artist themselves. Whereas once an artist had to hope to find a gallery owner or an agent in order to display his art for public consumption, now the internet allows an artist's work to be seen all over the world. Now anybody can sell art online, whether or not that person is a recognized artist. Heck some people who would not consider themselves artists are selling online and building enormous reputations for themselves!

Do you want to sell art online? You are not alone! Take some time to research your options. There are plenty of ways to spread the word about your work on the Internet. Forums, classified ads, auction sites, sales portals, personal websites, all of these are methods by which a person can make money off of their artwork!
